Marty

Marty opened the Kaitaia Indoor Sports Centre in 1988 catering for Indoor Cricket, Netball and Volleyball. A gym was added to the sports arena in 1992 and Marty qualified as a fitness instructor and trained the clients in his first gym for 7 years.

During that period became a runner winning several local events. Switched to Triathlon and eventually built up to and competed twice in the NZ Ironman. After missing out on entry to the Hawaiian Ironman event by a few seconds did a complete turnaround and trained for Power Lifting. After qualifying for Northland he competed in the North Island Bench Press Champs and came second.

In 1999 a second Marty's Gym was opened in Te Awamutu. The membership doubled within 3 months and a larger location was found.

While supporting some friends at a Body Building event in Whangarei decided to give it a go himself. In 2000 competed in 3 events. A 1st place in the Auckland Bodybuilding Champs gained him entry to the NZ Champs in Wellington where he placed 3rd in New Zealand in the over 40 division. He continued with Body Building for another 6 years gaining trophies and placings in several more competitions.

With the combined experience of having trained and competed at such different disciplines plus the feedback from thousands of clients over the last 20 years some valuable insights about weight loss and exercise has been attained.

In 2004 two Fit-x Vibration Training Machines were set up and trialed at Marty's Gym. After 3 months the fat loss and toning results recorded by the "vibration only" group was better than the "weights and cardio" group. This was the beginning of a new direction for Marty. He sold the Gym and with the primary goal as Weight Loss and Health and a new understanding about the real keys to weight loss and exercise the Bodybuzz Vibration Training Studio was formed.
